Gregoire, Christianity and Atheists

This is old news to many by now as it has been talked about for days (at least). I just came across this story and it reminded me that I haven't vented about the pure stupidity of the situation.

Patton's article (below) covers a lot of ground, it just starts with Gregoire's un-Solomon-like choice to put up a sign slamming God and religion right next to a nativity scene.

On the heels of Gregoire's attempt to appease everyone while appeasing no one, comes the news that the University of North Carolina and Duke University have banned Christmas trees. Someone was offended and complained.

Then I read that the Seattle Airport is also banning Christmas rather than put up a Jewish Menorah.

I've read the arguments on both sides of these issues. We can parse and nit-pick and hold it up to any kind of scrutiny imaginable, but it really boils down to the fact, the bold and bare fact, that if we put the question to those who founded our country, they'd side with those who want to put up religious artifacts. They started the trend and we're letting the wackos twist the original intent of our founding fathers to suit their own needs. They are chipping away bit by bit at the things that make our country unique and special. It's not just crazy, it's sad.

More Proof The Inmates Are Running The Asylum
At the state capitol in Olympia, Washington, Gov. Christine Gregoire (a Democrat, of course), has approved the placement of an atheist sign for public display next to a nativity scene. The sign reads: "At this season of THE WINTER SOLSTICE, may reason prevail. There are no gods, no devils, no angels, no heaven or hell. There is only our natural world. Religion is but myth and superstition that hardens hearts and enslaves minds. Placed by the Freedom From Religion Foundation on behalf of its Washington State Members."
